About workshops: 

Since arriving here years earlier, Poznan has inspired my work in many different ways.
I have grown to love my life in this city, walking the streets almost every day, seeking out the details that often escape us in our busy lives. You will learn how to capture gesture and expression as you practice street photography on this walk through the city and create the perfect stage to fine tune your story telling abilities.

This workshop is a look at the city through my eyes as a foreigner allowing you to be a tourist in your own city freeing you to explore and capture the moments that are easy to pass by. Learn to see and frame the details that make your vision of daily life unique by thinking outside the box.

PROGRAM:

Saturday (28.10.2017 | 10 – 16)

We will start in the classroom and then a photo walk through selected areas of the city. Tram rides may be possible.

Coffee and small pastries are included.

Theoretical part (2h):

Short introduction and presentation of Erik work:

~ Use of light and shadow

~ Learning some composition  by improving the frame

~Decisive moments and how to prepare for them

~Storytelling and our unique vision

~Confidence and how to gain it

~Seeing as a tourist or a foreigner would

~Staying inspired and seeking new inspirations.

Practical part (4h):

Lunch with Erik included.  

Participants head out on the streets with the supervision of Erik. On hand questions. Use of reflections. Street and shadows work. Use of existing light and weather.

Sunday (29.10.2017 | 10 – 14)

We will start in the classroom with some post processing and a group critique session.

Coffee and small pastries are included.

10-13 Discussion and review of selected images by participants. Question and answer period.

13-14 Discussion of post processing techniques. Use of color.

About Erik Witsoe | website 

Hello. I’m Erik.
Discovering new life in a foreign land, perspective has helped me pave the way for self-understanding through everyday adventures, which are lending to what I know, yet allowing to unearth the often humorous aspects of my new journey abroad. As an artist, perspective has always been important to me and now that I am living in Poland, I am observing from various angles just how true this is.
Raised in rainy Seattle, resided on the sunny coast of California, these days I am discovering life and four seasons in Poznan, Poland. I followed my heart and made a leap of faith across the pond three years ago and have not looked back since. I also owned and operated Bigfoot Coffee Shop located here in Poznan in the Pasaz Apollo, which was described as the „smallest coffee shop with the biggest heart”. Sadly, after four years of service, I closed the Shop to pursue Photography full time…so not so sad after all! To stay in touch with my creativity and share those experiences with loved ones back home, I explore the beauty of Poznan through my Photography. Trained as a fine Artist, but having a background in the Hospitality Industry has given me a variety of useful skills in which to draw from here in Poland where I am exploring the paths of life here that captivate, inspire and challenge my imagination.
